We started working on a new writing piece last week & your child should have spent at least an hour if not 2 working on it by now. We are doing a descriptive piece of writing together in class & your child should be working on their piece each day as modeled in class. The following is the work we have done to date.

The Assignment:
Write a story, a description, a retelling (recount) of a personal experience or event or a persuasive piece of writing.
Step # 1
Decide what type of writing you will do.
Class Paper - A description
Individual paper - students will write a description of their own choice.
Step # 2
Decide what you will write about.
Class Paper - choice # 1 Mrs.Murphy's classroom was much to broad a topic. We need to pick a seed. revised topic -Fish Tank
Ind.paper - students are encouraged to pick a place or thing (not a living object) they are very familiar with to describe.

Do a web.

Write a draft

Class paper 1. re-read out loud than again after and during each additional step 2.note areas that need work 3. circle sentences & highlight first words 4.work on noted areas
